Abstract:
A high-performance liquid chromatographic method for separation of isoflavone mixtures is described. Gradient solvent systems of hexanes and CH2Cl2-EtOH-HOAc resolve isoflavones with a range of polarities and can also separate closely related compdounds. Formononetin (I) and pseudobaptigenin (II) were separated for the first time by liquid chromatography. Isoflavones from soybean seed extracts were isolated and the separation achieved was greater than needed for acceptable resolution
