Abstract:
Reaction of divalent and trivalent Co complexes of octaethylporphyrin (LH2) with N2CHCHO gave N,Co-HCOCH:LCoX (X = Cl-, OAc-, ClO4-) which were reduced electrochemically to afford N-HCOCH2LH. N-(MeO)2CHCH2LH and N,N'-(1,2-vinylidene)octaethylporphyrin were obtained from N-HCOCH2LH under acidic conditions. NaBH4 reduction of N-HCOCH2LH gave N-HOCH2CH2LH. These N-alkylporphyrins provide a firm basis for the characterization of some suicide metabolites of cytochrome P 450.
