Abstract:
The reactions of the divinylporphyrin I (RR1 = bond, R2 = vinyl) with activated dienophiles yield stable bis-Diels-Alder adducts I (RR1R2 = R3, R4) absorbing light at >735 nm. This provides a convenient general route to bacteriochlorin-like chromophores.
